About North Meck Towns
The three towns of Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville are all located in the northernmost parts of Mecklenburg County and serve as suburban communities to larger Charlotte. The area is known as “North Meck” or “North Mecklenburg”. All have close proximity to lakefront Lake Norman, I-485, I-77, NorthLake Mall, shopping, restaurants, offices and office parks, and recreation. Uptown Center City Charlotte is 13-20 miles south and easily accessed by i-77. Northernmost Davidson at I-77 EXIT 30 is home to Davidson College and very much a quaint, charming old and well-maintained college town.
Residential single family homes, condominiums, townhomes, golf course and equestrian communities in the area offer a variety of living options for everyone. Davidson Landing is the waterfront peninsula of Davidson and has a great supply of condominiums and townhomes. Cornellius is directly south of Davidson and closer to Charlotte and also offers the charm of quaintness of a small town. Many new shops and redevelopment and the event closer proximity to shopping at I-77 Exit 28 make this a popular place to live and work.
Some of Lake Norman’s finest, priciest waterfront and golf/lake community homes are in the area, including The Peninsula as one of the best known and most popular. Huntersville is closest to Charlotte yet still connected and considered part of the Lake Norman region. Huntersville also has a wide variety of residential choices and affordability, including single family, condominiums, and townhomes of all sizes and price ranges. Huntersville is central to I-77 Exit 23 and also the newer, retail and shopping mecca of I-77 Exit 25 at Birkdale Village. Northtone Club and Birkdale Golf Club are popular golf destinations in the area.
