Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville are towns in southern Mecklenburg County. They are all very popular places to live, play, and work. This region has experienced tremendous residential and commercial development since the 1980’s and since all three towns are “inside” of the I-485 Metro Charlotte “loop road”, are extremely convenient and popular places to buy in.
Pineville is perhaps best known as the birthplace of the country’s 11 president, James K. Polk. The very first 1-mile stretch of I-485 bisected the town and mostly rural parts of Pineville in the early 1990’s and has a tremendous and permanent impact on current day Pineville which has developed into a huge retail, hotel, and shopping mecca anchored by Carolina Place Mall.
Matthews is more sprawling and residential yet also has a huge and ever-growing retail, shopping, and business mix mostly aligned and centered around Highway 74 (Independence Blvd.).
Mint Hill has remained more rural until recently due somewhat to its separation from the more dense South Charlotte region, abundance of open land and farms, and more recent improved connectivity into Charlotte by way of the I-485 Charlotte Beltway. Mint Hill has maintained it’s uniqueness and is experiencing a large surge in residential, retail, shopping, restaurants, and commercial growth. All three communities have much uniqueness to offer and home choices and affordability remain strong.
